Daniels will be guest speaker at 25th annual Highland County Pork Council Banquet

The 25th annual Highland County Pork Council Banquet will be held Tuesday, March 19 at the Hillsboro Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $12.

The guest speaker will be David Daniels, Ohio Department of Agriculture director.

Daniels is a life-long farmer and served eight years in the Ohio House before winning a seat in the Ohio Senate in 2010. He also served as a Highland County commissioner, Greenfield city councilman and mayor of Greenfield.

Daniels began his public service as a member of the Greenfield City Council. He then was elected as mayor of Greenfield, before going on to be a Highland County commissioner and a representative for Ohio's 86th House District.

He was appointed director of Agriculture by Gov. Kasich in 2012.

The Pork Council Banquet also will be a silent auction, which is new this year.
