Council members take oaths of office

Five recently elected members of Hillsboro City Council were sworn in Thursday night in a ceremony at the Highland County Courthouse.
Lee Koogler, who was reelected as council president for a third term, was sworn in, along with new members Justin Harsha, Claudia Klein, Ann Morris and Rebecca Wilkin.
The five council members, all of whom are Republicans, took their oaths of office, administered by Highland County Juvenile/Probate Court Judge Kevin Greer.
"I'm looking forward to working with everybody," Koogler said. "Eight years ago, I never would have thought I would be standing here for a third time. I'm incredibly grateful to be here."

The other members of council thanked their loved ones in attendance, along with Hillsboro voters, for their support.
"Your votes do affect us," Greer told the new members of council, advising them to "listen to both sides and think things through."
"The citizens are counting on you to make good, common-sense decisions," Greer said. "The citizens made good choices. Don't let their trust down."
