Community health partners receive grants

The Adena Health Foundation has awarded seven grants to organizations in Fayette, Highland, Jackson, Pickaway, Pike, Ross and Vinton counties.
Among those was a grant to help with free parenting classes and childhood illness education submitted by the Jackson-Vinton Community Action, as well as a grant to attract volunteer mentors to help at-risk children submitted by South Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The grants were made possible this year as a Community Benefit of Adena Health System and Adena Health Foundation. An awards ceremony was held in the PACCAR Medical Education Center to recognize grantees.
A review committee of the Adena Health Foundation Board of Directors scrutinized 15 proposals and chose seven projects for funding. Grants were awarded to organizations that emphasized health promotion, prevention and education.
Altogether, $61,498 was allocated to seven organizations. Along with Jackson-Vinton Community Action and South Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters, grants were awarded to Love INC, OSU Extension Vinton County, Pike County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Vinton County Health Department and Vinton County High School.[[In-content Ad]]
