Charlie Magaw displays rock with raised image of the state of Ohio

Charlie Magaw, a longtime resident of Highland County, now residing in the Rocky Fork Lake area, recently stopped into the office of The Highland County Press to show a rock with a raised image of the state of Ohio on one side.

Magaw said that he had traveled and worked all over the United States during a 40-year period and had taken this rock with him wherever he went. The speckled, hard granite rock, about one foot across in size, has a salmon-colored, slightly raised image that closely resembles the state of Ohio.

"This rock has to be a true one-of-a-kind combination that makes you wonder how it can be possible that a piece of hard granite rock, so very old in the history of our great planet earth, can be moved around so much that it is ground into an oval shape perhaps by glacial movement, and then someone finds that rock and realizes that it contains a raised, contrasting, colored image of his home state," Magaw said.
