Cathy Seifer announced as new dog warden
Cathy Seifer has been named the Highland County deputy dog warden, effective June 4, and will become the dog warden, effective June 9.
Commissioners Shane Wilkin and Tom Horst voted to approve Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward's recommendation during the May 30 board meeting. Commissioner Jeremy Shaffer is on vacation and was not in attendance.
According to Ward, Seifer will have one week to work with current dog warden Tim Hart prior to his retirement.
"Cathy's been a tireless volunteer at the dog pound and knows the operations very well," Ward said. "She's worked around canines for 25 years."
Seifer is the owner of Canine Design Pet Grooming in Highland County.
After advertising for the position, Ward said the county had 11 applicants. Following the interview process, Ward said Seifer was the logical choice.
