Buckeye Construction & Restoration announces expansion in Wellston

Buckeye Construction & Restoration, Ltd., in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), Ohio Department of Development, and Jackson County Economic Development Partnership, announced an investment of $928,000 to expand its operations in Jackson County, creating 40 new jobs. 

“Buckeye Construction & Restoration has earned a reputation for preserving historic buildings and managing specialty construction projects in large cities and small communities alike, creating new opportunities for economic growth,” said JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “The company’s expansion builds on that legacy in Wellston, where BCR’s investment will restore three vacant structures and fill them with new jobs and more vibrancy downtown.” 

Buckeye Construction & Restoration, Ltd. (BCR) is a self-performing specialty contractor focused on façade restoration, historic preservation, structural reinforcement, facility upgrades and comprehensive waterproofing and water-infiltration mitigation. BCR delivers technically driven repair and restoration solutions for building owners, public institutions, and communities throughout the United States, with a strong and growing presence in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee.

The company acquired an industrial park in Wellston in 2023 and is undertaking the revitalization of three primary buildings on the site to establish its new headquarters. The expanded campus will provide increased office and warehouse capacity to support BCR’s growing operations and improve overall efficiency as the company scales. The site will also include space for future workforce training needs, ensuring employees have access to continued skill development. This investment not only strengthens BCR’s operational foundation but also reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the community and the region’s economic growth.
 
Leading up to the expansion project, the City of Wellston and the Jackson County Commissioners provided Buckeye Construction & Restoration with gap funding and a tax abatement respectively. The Jackson County Economic Development Partnership (Partnership) and the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio also previously supported the company with a grant from the Fluor BWXT Opportunity Fund.

The investment is being supported by a $500,000 JobsOhio Revitalization Grant and a Jobs Creation Tax Credit from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority. 
The JobsOhio Revitalization Program offers loans and grants to bridge the financial gap between the appealing cost of brownfield sites and the cost of site redevelopment. This program mitigates financial risk and accelerates projects, returning land and buildings to productive use more efficiently.
