The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash involving four vehicles. The crash occurred on July 23 at approximately 6:33 a.m. on Interstate Route 275 near state Route 28 in Miami Township, Clermont County.
The preliminary investigation showed a Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Phil Couch, 48, of Cincinnati, was traveling southbound on Interstate Route 275 when his vehicle allegedly traveled into the median and struck a cable barrier. Couch’s vehicle then allegedly crossed into the northbound lanes, where it struck a Ford Fusion operated by Khaled Jawish, 43, of Cincinnati, and a Chevrolet Malibu operated by Kyle Sons, 32, of Batavia.
After initial impact, the vehicles of both Jawish and Sons traveled off of the right side of the roadway, where both struck a concrete wall. A fourth vehicle, a Toyota RAV4, operated by Juliet Ellison, 61, of Cincinnati, was struck by debris from the crash.
Couch and Jawish sustained serious injuries and were transported by EMS to Bethesda North Hospital. Both were later transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Sons sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Anderson Mercy Hospital.
Ellison sustained no injuries from the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Miami Township Police Department, Miami Township Fire and EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
