Athens woman to serve at least 9 years in prison for possessing, trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine
Sandra B. Petrey, 59, of Athens, recently appeared before Judge George P. McCarthy and was sentenced to nine to 13.5 years, all of which are mandatory, in the State Penal System.
The State argued for Petrey to serve a mandatory 10-15 years in prison during the argued sentencing, while the defense argued for the minimum possible prison sanction.
Petrey was convicted of the following charges:
• Aggravated trafficking in drugs, a felony of the first degree;
• Trafficking in cocaine, a felony of the second degree; and
• Aggravated trafficking in drugs, a felony of the third degree.
Law enforcement officers conducted a search warrant on the residence of Petrey and an alleged co-defendant in May of 2023, and numerous drugs and items of drug activity were located as well as over $8,000.
This case was investigated by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Athens County Special Response Team.
