4 arrested after alleged chase from Fayette County to Xenia
Four individuals were taken into custody last week following a reported high-speed pursuit that ended in the City of Xenia.
At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, the Sheriff’s Communications Center was alerted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol of a reported stolen vehicle in the area of I-71 near Fayette County. The vehicle, a 2025 Buick Encore, was reported stolen from the Villa Hills, Ky. area and being tracked by OnStar.
A short time later, the FCSO was alerted that the vehicle was in the area of S.R. 435 and Blue Grass Parkway in Fayette County. Deputies were in the area and observed the vehicle allegedly disobey a red light at the intersection of S.R. 435 and Allen Road.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop when the vehicle allegedly fled at a high rate of speed onto U.S. 35 West. The pursuit entered Greene County and eventually exited into a residential neighborhood in the City of Xenia.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Xenia Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the area to assist. With the assistance of OnStar, the stolen vehicle was remotely disabled in the area of Maumee Drive and Pueblo Drive in Xenia.
As the vehicle slowed, the occupants allegedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot in different directions. Law enforcement searched the area on foot, locating four individuals who were taken into custody.
Multiple handguns, later determined to have been reported stolen, were located in a backpack allegedly dropped by suspect(s) while fleeing and was recovered by deputies.
The following were taken into custody:
• Timothy A. Berry, 18, of Dayton;
• Lloyd Kelley IV, 20, of Franklin;
• Kenneth Stark Jr, 19, of Dayton; and
• A 17-year-old juvenile from Cincinnati.
The juvenile was transported to the South Central Ohio Regional Juvenile Detention Center (SCORJDC) pending an initial appearance before the Fayette County Juvenile Court. The other suspects were incarcerated in the Fayette County Jail.
All suspects were initially charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement and held in lieu of bond. Kenneth Stark Jr. was additionally charged with obstructing official business after initially misleading deputies about his identity.
Additional charges are expected after the case is reviewed by the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office.
