2024 Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame ceremony set for Oct. 31
On Oct. 31, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC), along with sponsors Wright State University, Honda and PNC, will host the 15th annual Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The Civil Rights Hall of Fame seeks to acknowledge outstanding Ohioans who are recognized as pioneers in human and civil rights and who have advanced the goals of equality and inclusion.
The 2024 Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame honorees include:
• U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (Columbus)
• Jordan A. Miller, Jr. (Columbus)
• Susan Upton Farley (1941-2020) (Woodlawn)
• Dwight Tillery (Cincinnati)
• Dr. Cleaster Whitehurst-Mims (Cincinnati)
• James L. Hardiman (Cleveland)
• Johnny Wu (Cleveland)
• Robert C. “Chip” Harrod (Cincinnati)
• Raymond L. Fitz, S.M. (Dayton)
• Bishop James Robert Allen Culp (Toledo)
• Sarah and Peter Fossett (Cumminsville).
The 2024 Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024 at 10 am in the Ohio Statehouse Atrium in Columbus. The program will consist of a formal ceremony that will honor these inductees. Representative Josh Williams will provide the keynote address. Performing will be singers James Blackmon and Samara Baptist-McMullen.
The event is free, and all members of the public are invited to attend the induction ceremony. There will be a small reception held in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda immediately following the ceremony. To maintain maximum capacity guidelines, RSVPs are required when attending this year's event. The ceremony will be photographed and video recorded.
