SARDINIA — After two innings, the game was tied, but the Fairfield Lions scored late inning runs to seal the rain-shortened 4-3 win Thursday against the Eastern Brown Warriors at EBHS.

Fairfield (7-2, 8-4) scored one run in the second, then added three runs in the sixth inning, which turned out to be just in time as the Southern Hills League game was called after the inning was completed.

In the second, Kyle Carson led off with a double to right-center field and took third on a sacrifice bunt by Ian Adams. Casey Jordan brought Carson home on a sacrifice fly to center, tying the game at one, as EB scored their first run in the top of the first.

Carson, who went 2-for-3, extended his hitting streak to eight games on Thursday. In that span, he's 13-for-28, with five of those eight games being two-hit games. In his last four games, Carson has two hits in each game.

The Warriors broke the tie in the fourth, scoring two runs for a 3-1 advantage.

Fairfield capitalized in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs, which turned out to be enough for the win.

Adams reached first with a one-out walk and went to second on a base hit by Casey Jordan. Adams moved to third on an errant pickoff attempt at second, with the ball going into the outfield. Tyler Campbell followed with a double, scoring both Adams and Jordan, tying the game at three.

With Nathan Hawkins pinch running for Campbell, Joey Wilson signaled in the game-winning run, scoring Hawkins from second base.

The win went to Campbell, pitching six innings. He allowed three runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk. Campbell had 10 strikeouts.

Souder was charged with the loss for EB.

For FHS, Cody Bennett forced a walk and was hit by a pitch.

The Warriors were led by the following players: Souder, 1-for-3, double; Ostrander, 1-for-3, double, one run; Faul, 2-for-3, two doubles, one run, one RBI; and Knight, 1-for-2, two RBIs.

The win lifts the Lions to 8-4 overall and 7-2 in the SHL.[[In-content Ad]]
