WEST UNION — After seven games, the Fairfield Lady Lions returned to Leesburg with a 57-33 victory at West Union Thursday night.
FHS (1-6) was led by junior Heather Cox with a double-double by tallying 25 points, 12 rebounds and two assists.
Kaitlin Evans followed up with 18 points, five assists and seven steals. Haley Bobb led FHS with a season-high eight assists and six steals.
"This was an all-around team effort after coming off a tough loss on Monday against Manchester," Fairfield head coach Matt Hodson said. "I was very disappointed in how we played on Monday, and we worked extremely hard these last two days of practice to correct what we did wrong in that game.
"Our defensive intensity had really dropped off, and we came out (Thursday) and really put the pressure on them. All five positions picked up the pressure and produced a lot of steals (17 total), which translated into many layups and points."
The Lady Lions came out quick and led early with Evans and Bobb pressuring the Lady Dragon guards into turnovers on their first three possessions, allowing the the visiting FHS squad to earn a 6-0 lead.

FHS led 16-6 after the first, but West Union battled back in the second frame where FHS still won the quarter, 13-12 for a halftime lead of 29-18.
"At halftime, we stressed to the girls to come out strong and build on the lead," Hodson said. "We wanted to be up by 15 or more in the first three minutes of the third, and they did that.
"It was good to see Justice (Hattan) get going in the third quarter with baskets in transition. She normally has to guard the other team's best player."
After three quarters, the Lady Lions led 45-28.
In the fourth, FHS outscored the Lady Dragons, 12-5.
FHS out-rebounded their opponent 40-28, and they totaled 16 assists while committing a season-low 16 turnovers, while WU committed 30.
The next time FHS will take the court will be Saturday, Dec. 29 as they host the McClain Lady Tigers.
