LCHS gains 26-point win over Paint Valley

Monday (Jan. 23) was a big win for the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs, winning a non-conference home game against the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats by a 56-30 score.

LCHS led at halftime with a 14-6 first quarter and 13-4 second frame for a halftime advantage of 27-10. In the second half, LCHS outscored PVHS 14-5 in the third, and both teams scored 15 points each in the fourth quarter.

Jade Massey led the way on the scoring sheet with 16 points, as she also collected seven rebounds, four assists and seven steals. Addison West totaled 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and three steals.

Ella Barry totaled eight points, while the rest of the LCHS scoring included Bry Price with six points, Macy Etienne with six points, and with two points were Kalyn Rich, Allie Waits, Joslyn Rockey and Noel Barnhill.

LCHS finished with three 3-pointers as a team (West, Massey, Etienne) and went 9-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Whiteoak dominates Zane Trace

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats won at home in convincing fashion on Wednesday (Jan. 25) against the visiting Zane Trace Lady Pioneers, defeating the non-conference visitors, 53-9.

WHS led 16-0 at the end of the first quarter, and after winning the second frame 22-1, it was Whiteoak with a 38-1 lead at halftime. In the third frame, each team scored four points, and WHS won the fourth quarter at 11-4 for the 44-point win.

Jaylie Parr led Whiteoak with 25 points as she made six 3-pointers, one two-point basket and she was 3-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Lydia Carr finished with 12 points and five rebounds, while teammate Molly McMullen totaled seven points in the win. Also for WHS, Darby Yeager finished with four points, Bri Hill totaled two points, Elly McMullen added two points and Kelsey Monteith scored one point.

As a team, WHS totaled seven 3-pointers (six from Parr, one by Molly McMullen) and went 6-of-15 from the free-throw line.

Whiteoak wins at St. Patrick’s

Whiteoak girls basketball traveled to Kentucky for a non-conference game Thursday night (Jan. 26) and returned home with a 47-31 victory, their 12th win of the season.

WHS led 12-5 after the first quarter, and after each team scored 10 points in the second quarter, it was WHS leading at halftime 22-15.

In the second half, the Lady ’Cats scored 11 points in the third and 14 points in the fourth quarter, while St. Patrick’s scored five points in the third and 11 points in the final quarter, giving Whiteoak a 16-point win.

Jaylie Parr led with 15 points, as she also collected eight rebounds, and four assists. Lydia Carr totaled 13 points with a double-double as she had 13 rebounds, two assists and three steals.

Addison Roberts totaled 10 points in the win with two rebounds and one assist. Darby Yeager scored seven points and had 15 rebounds in the win. Finishing the scoring was Bri Hill with two points.

As a team, WHS totaled three 3-pointers (Parr with two, Carr with one), and they were 12-of-17 from the free-throw line.

The win improves WHS to 12-9 overall. They are currently 6-6 in the SHAC Division II standings, second place.

Whiteoak defeats West Union for SHAC victory

The Whiteoak Wildcats added to their Southern Hills Athletic Conference wins total on Friday night by going on the road and defeating the West Union Dragons 79-47.

Whiteoak had an outstanding first quarter, leading 30-6 once the opening 8:00 ticked away to end the first frame. West Union won the second quarter scoring battle at 20-18, but it was the visiting Wildcats leading the game at halftime by a 48-26 score.

Whiteoak added to their 22-point halftime lead with 17 points in the third frame, while West Union scored 10 points, as WHS took a 65-36 lead.

In the fourth quarter, WHS added 14 points, while West Union scored 11 points for a 32-point win.

WHS was led by Carson Emery with 26 points, as he also collected seven rebounds, one assist and three steals. Emery made one 3-pointer, eight two-point baskets and was 5-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Landon Barnett totaled 17 points to go with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Barnett made six two-point buckets and finished 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Zander Roades scored 14 points, as he sank four 4-pointers and one two-point basket for the Wildcats.

Also for WHS, Evan DeAtley totaled eight points, and with six points each were Luken Roades and Weston Blair, while Brady Brandenburg scored two points. Roades led Whiteoak with nine assists, while Blair added six rebounds.

As a team, WHS finished 16-of-22 from the free-throw line and sank seven 3-pointers.

LC Mustangs win against Blanchester

Saturday night, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs hosted the Blanchester Wildcats in a non-conference contest, where it was the hosts winning by a 60-47 score.

The Mustangs scored 26 points in the first quarter and 12 points in the second frame, while Blanchester had a 12-point first frame and 11 points in the second frame, leading to the Mustangs being in front at 38-23 at halftime.

Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter, and BHS outscored LCHS, 13-11 in the fourth quarter as Lynchburg-Clay won by 13 points.

For the Mustangs, it was Brady Chisman being the leading scorer with 17 points as he made a 3-pointer, six two-point baskets and he was 2-of-3 from the free-throw line.

Bryce Binkley totaled 14 points with seven two-point baskets. He also added four rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block. Logan Shope finished with 11 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Also for LCHS, Ian Waits totaled nine points, two rebounds, four assists and one block. Denver Clinton added six points in the win with four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Cody Bell rounded out the scoring with three points, two rebounds, and two steals.

As a team, the Mustangs made three 3-pointers (Chisman, Waits, Bell) and were 3-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Fairfield wins on road at Paint Valley

Fairfield added to their win total on Saturday afternoon by winning on the road, in a non-conference game, against the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats by a convincing 50-28 score.

Fairfield scored double figures each quarter, starting with a first half where they had 13 points in the first quarter and followed that with 12 points in the second frame. PVHS scored seven points in the first quarter and 10 points in the second, as FHS held a 25-17 lead at halftime.

In the second half, FHS outscored Paint Valley 10-4 in the third, and in the fourth quarter the Lady Lions added 15 points to their total, while PVHS scored seven points, giving Fairfield a 22-point victory.

Peyton Magee totaled 22 points in the win, as she also added six rebounds and four assists to her totals. Faith Donley scored 13 points with three rebounds, four assists and five steals.

Kassi Miller finished with eight points (four rebounds, one assist, two steals), Hailey Tolle added five points (six rebounds one assist) and Ginny Tree scored two points (three rebounds).

As a team, FHS collected four 3-pointers with Magee and Miller each sinking two shots from beyond the arc. Fairfield was also 16-of-19 from the free-throw line, with Magee going 8-of-9 and Donley at 7-of-8. Tolle was 1-of-2 in her free-throw attempts.
