The Fairfield FFA held their second annual “Welcome Back” hog roast on Thursday, Aug. 25.

The program started with the advisers and officers introducing themselves with their names and offices held.

Cheyenne Byler, current chaplain, thanked those in attendance for coming and then thanked our meal sponsors: Evan Davis Family donated the hog; Hunter Meats donated the processing; Fairfield FFA sponsored the meal; The Sheeley Family donated meal preparation; and the Music Department donated sound system usage. Byler also led the prayer, and then everyone was dismissed to get food.

After the meal, Avery Teeters, current president, introduced the evening’s speaker, Corey Cockerill, Interim President of Wilmington College. Cockerill spoke about skills that we learn in FFA that carry on into careers and real life.

After she spoke, the officers broke down what the chapter had been doing over summer and upcoming events. Byler spoke about FFA Camp. Carly Sanders, Secretary, spoke about the officer retreat and what the officers had done that day. Emily Haines, Reporter, spoke about out-of-county events and member participation at The Ohio State Fair.

Carson Shoemaker, Sentinel, spoke about the chapter’s involvement at the Leesburg Festival with the Fairfield FFA food booth. After that, Emma Fraysier, Vice President, spoke about upcoming events this month.

The advisers then thanked everyone again for coming and then dismissed everyone. There were games to play afterward as well.
