The Fairfield Lady Lions traveled to Veterans Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe to face the South Webster Jeeps of the Southern Ohio Conference on Monday, and for the second consecutive game, Fairfield's offense failed to produce a timely hit when needed as the Lady Lions (4-3, 1-1 SHAC) fell to the South Webster Jeeps (5-1, 2-1 SOC I) by a score of 6-1.

South Webster scored a run in the top of the first inning on three hits, but a stellar double play on a line drive hit to second baseman Emmi Vance prevented further damage.

Fairfield tied the score 1-1 with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Faith Miller led off the inning with a triple down the right field line. Two outs later, Miller scored on a wild pitch on a great hustle play to slide in just under the tag at home plate.

South Webster erupted for five runs on five hits in the top of the third inning to take a 6-1 lead.

Both teams put runners on base over the remaining innings but failed to score. Fairfield’s Katelyn Chambliss blanked the South Webster Jeeps after the third inning, pitching out of jams in the sixth and seventh innings, but the Lady Lion offense didn’t plate a run.

Leading hitters for the Lady Lions: Sydney Hooper (1-for-3, walk), Rilee Quickle (2-for-3), Jobey Hattan (1-for-3, double), Sydney Sanders (1-for-3, double) and Faith Miller (1-for-3, triple, 1 run).

Jaiden White (5-1) was the winning pitcher for South Webster. Her pitching line: seven innings, six hits, one run, one earned run, one walk and six strikeouts.

Katelyn Chambliss (4-3) suffered the loss for Fairfield. Her pitching line: seven innings, 14 hits, six runs, five earned runs, no walks and six strikeouts.
