WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE - The Southern State Community College Board of Trustees announced plans to investigate the possibility of establishing an SSCC campus in Adams County. Board vice chairman Ralph Shell made the announcement at the closing of the board's Wednesday night meeting at the Fayette Campus. Prior to the announcement, Vice President of Business and Finance Jim Buck presented a needs assessment partnership survey between SSCC and Shawnee State University for Adams and Brown counties. Trustees voted unanimously to table the assessment survey after a motion by Paul Hall and a second by Rory Ryan. Buck also reported fall enrollment is up 35 percent, while state funding increased 1.2 percent. Buck told trustees that the increased enrollment should bring in $1.6 million in new revenue and $1.3 million in new expenses. Buck planned to provide a breakdown on the budget revisions to the board's finance committee. In two separate special meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, the board interviewed finalists to replace retiring college president Dr. Sherry Stout. After a lengthy executive session from its special meeting on Wednesday, the board made no announcement on the remaining candidates for president. Board chairman Jim Ward apologized to those in attendance for the late start to the regular board meeting. The board is scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, Nov. 10.[[In-content Ad]]
