Southern State Community College is proud to announce its nursing program has received a clean review and perfect site visit from the Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN). This confirms the program's commitment to academic excellence and high-quality standards of training and instruction for its students.
During the recent review, the OBN thoroughly evaluated all aspects of the College’s nursing program, including curriculum, teaching quality, clinical training, learning facilities and student outcomes. Upon conclusion, the comprehensive assessment resulted in a clean report, validating that the program is meeting and exceeding all state requirements.
“We are thrilled with the outcome of this review and are grateful to the Ohio Board of Nursing and their recognition of our program’s quality,” said Southern State’s Dean of Health Sciences Dr. Julianne Krebs. “Our faculty and staff are dedicated to providing the best possible education and training for our students, and this review affirms the effectiveness of our efforts.”
Southern State strives to maintain a strong commitment to producing highly qualified, compassionate healthcare professionals for today’s workforce. This review is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire department, including faculty, staff and students.
According to Southern State’s Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Erika Goodwin, the site reviewer noted that Southern State Registered Nursing (RN) and Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Programs are above both the Ohio average and National average for NCLEX licensure pass rates.
Nursing at Southern State has been a foundational program since the College’s inception in 1975. The program has a deep-rooted legacy, is the College’s largest academic program and is a premier pathway that serves as a model throughout the state of Ohio and the country.
The College continues to offer a variety of academic programming that prepares students for success in an ever-changing healthcare landscape with classes available at the Central Campus in Hillsboro and the Brown County Campus in Mt. Orab.
“Southern State is very proud of the excellent nursing programs we have as well as the quality of graduates our programs produce each year,” Goodwin said. “Thank you to our Dean of Health Sciences, Dr. Julianne Krebs, and the nursing faculty and staff for the outstanding programs they deliver – this is a job well done.”
