Kaley Davis, a 2012 graduate of Fairfield High School, became the first recipient of the Philip L. Davis Memorial Scholarship.

A good friend and a strong church member, Philip Davis passed away unexpectedly in December 2010. The Hardins Creek Church family established The Philip L. Davis Memorial Scholarship for members and active youths in the Hardins Creek Friends Meeting.

It is only fitting that the church is using part of the proceeds of the upcoming ice cream social that is scheduled for this Friday, July 21, to be used for the scholarship fund.

Phil's love for ice cream was very instrumental in making this event a family friendly and fun activity.

Beginning at 5 p.m. at the meeting house, south of Fairfield School just off S.R. 771 on Hardins Creek Road, the social features homemade chicken and noodles, BBQ pork sandwiches, salads, pies, cakes, and topped off with the homemade ice cream. Donations are welcome.

Kaley is the daughter of Jason and Tara Davis. She will attend Wilmington College this fall.
