Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Schnormeier Gallery is pleased to present “Coloring My Resiliency,” featuring the artwork of MVNU alumnus Kimberly Rhyan and artist Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart. The exhibition is on display through Nov. 21.
A Gallery Talk will be held Friday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m., with a reception to follow from 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be a Homecoming Open House on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Rhyan, a member of the Class of 2000, passed away Sept. 26, 2024, after bravely battling cancer for the third time. “Coloring My Resiliency” chronicles her journey from diagnosis to her final days. Through a powerful series of self-portraits, she shares a message of courage, hope and peace despite her challenges battling a terminal disease.
Stewart presents her own perspective on healing and intentional living through art. Stewart, who has been making her works of art for more than 25 years, has traveled and shown her work in Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, France, England, Italy, and Greece as well as throughout the United States.
Together, these two artists provide complimentary perspectives.
