MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University president Dr. Carson Castleman is pleased to announce the hiring of Trey Schruff for the position of Executive Director of Enrollment Systems and Operations.

Schruff brings 15 years of experience in higher education with him to the role, including the last five years at MVNU sister school Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn.

“I am so excited to have Trey at MVNU,” said Johnna Vanover, Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing. “He has a proven track record of results, and he is a very driven leader. We have worked together in the past and align very well, and I am confident he will thrive in the MVNU culture. We are blessed for him to join us in this exciting time of MVNU’s history under Dr. Castleman’s leadership, and I am honored to work alongside him.”

In this new role, Schruff will oversee enrollment communications strategies and lead the systems and operations team in implementing the university’s overall plan for inquiry and applicant tracking and communication. He will serve as the management software expert for the university and collaborate with third-party vendors to negotiate contracts and ensure alignment with recruitment goals.

In addition, Schruff is responsible for generating various enrollment reports and delivering them to leadership on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.

“I’m thrilled to join MVNU in this capacity,” said Schruff. “My goal is to enhance the user experience for everyone by delivering unique and innovative solutions that contribute to the university’s overall growth and success. I am passionate about empowering others to do extraordinary work. As Phillips Brooks once said, ‘Duty makes us do things well, but love makes us do them beautifully.’ This guiding principle has shaped my career, and I look forward to bringing it to MVNU.”

During his time at Trevecca, Schruff served in several enrollment positions, including director of enrollment for the Office of Graduate and Adult Education. In his current role of director of strategic partnerships, he was responsible for developing relationships with organizations within their community to increase Trevecca’s brand awareness.

“My time at Trevecca was instrumental in shaping my approach to enrollment systems,” Schruff stated. “I gained valuable experience in streamlining processes, enhancing the student experience and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet strategic goals. Trevecca’s immense focus on faith and community has had a profound impact on my life and career. I’ve been fortunate to have incredible leadership at Trevecca, where I’ve gained invaluable tools and experiences that have prepared me to take this exciting next step at MVNU.”

Schruff has a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Arts in Human Services with a cognate in Christian Ministries from Liberty University. He is a two-time recipient of the Treveccan Award, which is given each year to an employee in Graduate and Adult Education who exemplifies servant leadership, team work, positivity and work ethic.

Schruff lives in Thompson’s Station, Tenn., along with his wife, Ashlynn, and 1-year-old son, Tate.
