Hillsboro High School’s October students of the month are as follows:

• Ayden Green: The Math Department nominates Ayden Green. His teacher says, “Ayden has worked hard in all classes this month. Ayden comes to class prepared, participates in discussions and isn't afraid to ask questions. His attention to his studies earned him honor roll for the first quarter.”

• Nate Lane: The English Department nominates Nate Lane. His teacher says, “Nate has been working so hard in Senior English. He is on top of every assignment, consistently checks in to make sure he's on the right track and participates in class like he's getting paid. I am so proud of him.”

•  Xzayvion (Zay) Warren: The Science Department nominates Xzayvion Warren. His teacher says, “Zay is killing it in biology, and I am extremely proud of how he is performing academically (in all of his classes). He participates, he is an excellent worker and leader during small group time, and he is a pleasure to have in class. He’s a good dude.”

• Peyton Spurlock: The Social Studies Department nominates Peyton Spurlock. Her teacher says, “Peyton missed only one point throughout the entire first quarter. She participates in class, shows intelligence and exactness in her answers, and is fantastic at putting her thoughts on paper. She rarely misses school and displays maturity and positivity in class.”

• Aiden Shinkle: The Elective Department nominates Aiden Shinkle. His teacher says, “Aiden stands out in crafts class for his consistent effort and commitment to academic success, but even more so, he stands out for his humility and willingness to help. He is quick to identify areas in his work that could be improved, but rather than using that as a reason to give up, he uses it as a reason to try new approaches. He encourages other students when they are struggling and is always willing to help me with tasks around the classroom.”

• Aiden Christman: The Intervention Department nominates Aiden Christman. His teacher says, “Aiden consistently demonstrates outstanding responsibility and dedication in both his academic work and vocational tasks throughout the school. He arrives each day prepared and ready to learn, setting a positive example for his peers. Aiden is a dependable role model who takes initiative and is always willing to lend a helping hand to classmates and staff alike. His positive attitude makes Aiden a valuable part of our school community.”

• Brayden Oberrecht: The Ag/Industrial Arts Department nominates Brayden Oberrecht. His teacher says, “Brayden is a leader in class. He works hard, shows respect and is willing to go the extra mile. Brayden has stayed after class to help set up the new welders and helped design the welding booths we are going to build. Brayden comes into school each day in a good mood and ready to learn.”

• Allie Roush: The Student Services Center nominates Allie Roush. Allie is a big community supporter and assists our students with necessary job skills at her part-time job.

Hillsboro High School would like to give a special thank-you to Holtfield Station for sponsoring the month of October. Each student of the month received a gift card to the coffee station and a Holtfield cookie.
