On Feb. 4, seven of the Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA Chapter members attended the Speak to Lead contest at Wilmington College.
This contest gives students the chance to develop their public speaking and communication skills. Brianna Foxx and Ann Boyd both competed in the Creed competition where they were asked to memorize the FFA Creed.
In the Beginning Prepared contest Claire Winkle wrote and memorized a speech to compete against others and answer a series of questions.
In the Advanced Prepared contest Grace Allen placed first and Emma Yochum placed third, they both memorized a speech and answered questions to the best of their ability. Corbin Winkle and Addy Knauff both competed in the Extemporaneous Contest where Corbin placed 2nd and Addy placed third. They wrote a short speech in a given time slot and presented it before a panel of judges. Congratulations to all of those who competed.
