Are you a high school student thinking about pursuing a career in health care? If so, you’ll want to mark your calendars for a special event.

A Healthcare Career Night for students in grades seven through 12 will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, in the PACCAR Medical Education Center on the campus of the Adena Medical Center.

Students from throughout south-central Ohio are invited to attend the event, which is hosted by Adena Health System, Chillicothe City Schools, Pickaway-Ross Career Technology Center and the PACCAR center.

“The purpose is to show local students that they are smart enough and capable enough to succeed in healthcare careers,” said Dr. John Gabis.

A secondary goal is to try to convince students to return to this region to pursue their healthcare careers. Representatives from a number of healthcare disciplines who received training outside the region and returned home to pursue their careers will be in attendance, he said.

Students will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from colleges and universities from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

Afterwards, students are invited to participate in breakout sessions, in the areas of their choice. Healthcare professionals will lead the sessions.

On hand will be EMS, Health IT, Medical Assistant, Medical Therapy, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physician, Radiology and Respiratory representatives.

Those interested in attending should contact their local schools for more information about the event.[[In-content Ad]]
