Greenfield Exempted Village Schools hosts American Girl Doll Tea
Greenfield Exempted Village Schools recently held its second American Girl Doll Tea in the Elementary cafeteria.
The girls, their mothers, grandmothers and family friends enjoyed a lovely high tea. The cafeteria was decorated in a Mardi Gras theme centered around the doll, Marie Grace, who is from New Orleans. Each girl who purchased a ticket received a book about Marie Grace whose life they read about before attending the tea.
The participants received a crown, a bag of gold candy and beaded necklaces. A raffle was held for a beautiful tea set provided by tea instructor, Mrs. Joan Moore. The table decorations were also part of the raffle. The winner of the tea set was Kimberly Martin.
The money from the raffle was donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Chad Hough, D. J. Hough, Jean Jarvis, Simone King and Simone Traska.
A parade of the girls with their dolls began the event introduced by Deb Free. Mrs. Joan Moore of Ford City, Pennsylvania, instructed the eldest girl at each table how to serve tea to the people seated with her. She was assisted by Judy Snyder also of Ford City, Pennsylvania.
The following were the eldest girls serving tea: Kenedi Campbell, Emily Parker, Nicki Glass, Madison Trinkle, Madeline Crawford, Ciara Colwell, Abigail Roberts, Morgan Van Dyke, Gracie Ernst, Aubrey Wile, Sarah Free, Chloe Kirsch, Kaylee Stevenson, Taylor Thompson, Jordan Ford, Gracie Stewart, Brooke Beatty, Raelynn Camerena, and Becka Baxla.
Besides a book discussion on the featured doll, a craft was made and completed by the girls (decorating a Mardi Gras mask with jewels and feathers). The ladies were served several kinds of scones, tea sandwiches of ham salad, chicken salad, egg salad and jelly. Dessert was a variety of cookies.
The doll of the year was won by Taylor Thompson of Rainsboro Elementary.
