The Fairfield Local High School chapter of the National Honor Society has had a very successful school year. This student organization has successfully directed several school activities, including two charitable projects, and has volunteered at several events.

In October, the NHS group aided Fairfield’s FFA chapter by participating in the annual “Safe Halloween” event. This event was held in Fairfield Local’s auditeria and allowed children to trick-or-treat safely while school groups and area businesses handed out candy. Participation in this activity allowed NHS members to provide service to the community while fostering a safe environment for everyone to enjoy.

In November and December, the group held its annual “Winter Wear Drive.” As a result, numerous pairs of gloves, scarves, winter hats and coats were collected to benefit the students at Fairfield Local School.

Furthermore, in March, Fairfield’s National Honor Society launched the “Light the Night” campaign to assist the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to actively fund local blood cancer research for pediatrics and adults.

The goal of the National Honor Society is to give back to the school and community by maintaining high standards of character and scholarship as well as providing leadership and service to others. The NHS, in part, fulfills this goal by conducting charitable projects.

If you, or your business, have service projects that require assistance, have questions regarding our mission or would like to help our organization in any way, please contact NHS adviser Kristi Welling at (937)780-2966 or at kristi.welling@fairfieldlocal.org.
