Reach Out and Read is a new program that helps students in grades kindergarten through fourth receive books to improve literacy skills. The students at Fairfield High School and Middle School (grades 7-12) donated their gently used or new books during the month of December. This program was the idea of FHS freshman Shaylee Carson. Carson, along with students in the Child Development class, collected 1,500 children's books that were donated to the Elementary students. Each kindergarten through fourth grade student was given a book to take home and the remaining books were given to the classroom teachers.
