Dobbs receives teachers scholarships

Keri Dobbs, a freshman at Southern State Community College, has received two scholarships administered by the Highland County Retired Teachers Association (HCRTA) scholarship committee.

Armstrong presented Dobbs with two scholarships of $300 each.

One is provided by HCRTA members and the second, the Harold Spargur Scholarship, is administered by the HCRTA.

Keri, a 2011 Hillsboro High School graduate, is majoring in English education. She plans to continue her education at Wilmington College with the hope of returning to the Hillsboro area to teach and coach volleyball.

The Retired Teachers wish Keri the best of luck in her studies and her career choice.

Students interested in scholarship information should contact SSCC. Students must be in good academic standing, be a graduate of a county school and be majoring in education.

The Highland County Retired Teachers meet four times a year for luncheon meeting at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center. Any retired teacher is welcome to join. Spouses and school support staff may join as associated members.
