Deadline March 15 for SSCC Foundation Scholarships in healthcare

Nursing and allied health students at Southern State Community College could reap the benefits from the myriad scholarship opportunities offered through the SSCC Foundation, a tax-exempt organization founded in 1996.
SSCC Foundation donors provide many scholarship opportunities to Southern State students. These scholarships are coordinated to encourage students to pursue their academic careers at the college. Scholarships are available to both transfer students and those intending to pursue a degree leading to immediate employment. To date, more than 600 students have been awarded scholarships funded by the SSCC Foundation.

• DON AND ANN FENDER SCHOLARSHIP:
• Eligibility: Must be pursuing a higher level of education in any health-related field and be a resident of Adams, Brown or Highland counties. A preference will be granted to nursing students professing a desire to work at Highland District Hospital. Recipients must have a 2.6 GPA or higher and exhibit scholastic achievement, responsibility, honesty, dependability, sportsmanship in dealings with others on a daily basis, punctuality, perseverance and loyalty.
• HOSPICE OF HOPE SCHOLARSHIP
• Eligibility: Must be a full-time nursing student in one of the LPN or RN programs at SSCC while maintaining a 2.5 GPA or higher, and must be a resident of Adams, Brown, Clermont, Highland or Pike counties in Ohio, or Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, Pendleton or Robertson counties in Kentucky. Recipient must give consideration for employment by Hospice of Hope if openings are available upon graduation.
• HOTTLE NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
• Eligibility: Must be accepted into one of the nursing programs at SSCC and be a resident of Brown, Clinton, Fayette or Highland County. Recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
• HELEN R. ROWLAND SCHOLARSHIP
• Eligibility: Must be accepted into one of the nursing programs at SSCC and be a resident of the Greenfield area (Greenfield, Bainbridge, Cynthiana, or surrounding area). Recipients will be assessed on remaining amount of need as determined by SSCC.
• JACOBSON FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
• About: This $500 scholarship was designed to honor the late JoAnne Jacobson, nursing professor.
• Eligibility: Must be an outstanding current RN student from Fayette County, selected by the nursing faculty.
• STORER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
• Eligibility: Must have graduated from a Highland County high school and be enrolled as a second-year nursing student at SSCC.[[In-content Ad]]
