Deadline extended for nursing program applications

Applications are being accepted for those interested in a career in nursing. Wright State University’s (WSU) pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing program offers courses in Chillicothe at Adena’s PACCAR Medical Education Center.

The initial deadline to apply was August 1, but the recent change to semesters has limited the number of eligible applicants.

At the Adena campus, WSU’s College of Nursing and Health holds a new cohort each spring semester. There are openings for 32 students. The application period will remain open until classes are filled.

“This is an ideal opportunity for local students who have been working toward a nursing degree, or for the nurse who wants to take his or her career to the next level,” said Lisa Filyo, WSU at Adena academic advisor.

To be eligible, applicants must be admitted to Wright State as a degree-seeking student. They must also have successfully completed specific pre-requisite courses within the past five years, earning a “C” or better. Pre-requisite courses (or equivalent courses) needed to apply include:

• English 101 or 1100
• Psychology 110 or 1010 (Introductory)
• Chemistry 101 or 1010* (may be waived with recent HS credit of “C” or better)
• Chemistry 102 or 1020 (Organic)
• Psychology 341 or 3410 (Developmental/Lifespan)
• Anatomy 310 or 2100 (A&P 1)
• Anatomy 311/312 or 2120 (A&P 2)
• Statistics 160 or 1600

Students are encouraged to call or apply, even if they are missing a course. Other criteria include a minimum score of 80 percent on the HESI A2 Entrance Exam, and a cumulative GPA of 2.75 for all undergraduate coursework. Provisional admittance consideration will be offered in some circumstances.
