Man charged with assault at Hillsboro business may face more charges

A man accused of assaulting a woman at a Hillsboro South High Street business – before running over another individual who tried to stop him – has been arrested by the Hillsboro Police Department, according to reports.

Javen Meadows, 22, reportedly has been charged with assault and strangulation after the confrontation Sunday, May 31 according to an affidavit filed in Hillsboro Municipal Court.

According to www.fox19.com, court records said that Meadows entered South High Street business in a Ford F-150 just after 2:30 a.m., ramming another truck before parking. Meadows allegedly exited the vehicle and went over to the truck he hit, before grabbing the woman by the neck and throwing her to the ground, the report said.

As Meadows drove off, he allegedly ran over and fatally injured Billy Grooms, 49, who was attempting to intervene, police said.

Billy Grooms leaves behind two sons and his wife. He was the family’s sole provider. The family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover expenses.

The Highland County Press has contacted Hillsboro Municipal Court and the Hillsboro Police Department for official reports. According to https://highland.miamivalleyjails.org/, Meadows is incarcerated at the Highland County Justice Center.

Additional charges are pending in this case, according to the Hillsboro Police Department.

There are still MEN out there to confront evil-doers. For the life of me, I do not understand the minds and actions of violent psychopathic people. I do understand the sort of Billy Grooms. Good men must act.
