Patsy Ruth (Sollars) Free

Patsy Ruth (Sollars) Free, 89, passed away at home on Dec. 27, 2024. 

Pat was born Feb. 9, 1935 in Good Hope, to Edwin Crosby and Rozella Estella (McCullough) Sollars.
 
She was a 1953 graduate of McClain High School and a member of the Buckskin Community Church. Pat was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who was active in her church and community. During the 1980s, Pat utilized her many creative talents and her entrepreneurial spirit to launch and operate Pat’s Place, a specialty clothing store in Greenfield.
 
On Oct. 3, 1953, she married James Edward Free, who preceded her in death in July, 2024. Pat and Jim made their home in South Salem, where they raised their three children, Paul Douglas (Susan) Free, Kathryn Ellen (Doug) Farber and Bruce Alan (Suzanne) Free. Pat was the proud grandmother of Kimberly Rose Free, Amanda Beth (Carlos) Macias, Megan Ann Seaborne, Joshua Wesley (Ginny) Farber, Samuel Crosby Farber, James Carson (Kendal) Free, Thomas Alan Free and Johnathan Robert Free; great-grandchildren include Eddie and Max Seaborne, Elena and Lucas Macias, Ellie, Jack, Jake and Ben Farber. Her sisters, Peggy Jane (Sollars) Bach, Shirley (Sollars) Shoemaker, Susan (Sollars) Templin, along with sisters-in-law, Irene Lucas, Marjorie Free and Lou Free also survive.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers-in-law, David Bach, Lee Shoemaker, Robert Free and Karl Free.
 
Special gratitude and appreciation go to the many caregivers who enabled Pat to remain in her home until her passing. A special thanks to the Adena Hospice team for their compassionate care for Pat.
 
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Jan. 11, and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Buckskin Community Church, South Salem.
