Robert C. Dunlap Jr.
Robert C. Dunlap Jr., 84, of Leesburg, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 at his home.
He was born Sept. 20, 1939 in New Vienna, the son of the late Robert C. and Jesse Helen Taylor Dunlap.
Bob and his father owned and operated Dunlap Homebuilders. He was the fourth generation of Dunlap Builders. Bob was a Past Exalted Ruler of B. P. O. Elks #361; had served as a Liberty Township trustee; was a member of the Ohio Regional V-8 Ford Club #141 and the Early Ford V-8 Club of America; a life member of the Highland County Historical Society; had been an member of the Hillsboro Jaycees, loved going fishing with his dad in Center Hill Reservoir, Tenn.; enjoyed weekends in his cabin at Long’s Retreat; and was a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Patton Dunlap, whom he had married Dec. 16, 1961; two daughters, Cherie McCarthy and Michelle Brinkman of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ariana McCarthy, Natasha (Tim) Martin, Dustin Brinkman and Jordan (Jessica) Brinkman; three great-grandchildren, Camden Martin, Savannah Martin and Henry Brinkman; one brother-in-law, James Finnegan of Wilmington; two nephews, James (Mindy) Finnegan II of Wilmington and Greg Finnegan of Treasure Island, Fla.; and two nieces, Renee (John) Adams of Roswell, Ga. and Melissa (Wayne) Bean of Marietta, Ga.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Unland and Carolyn Finnegan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
