A Beaver man has been sentenced to community control after pleading guilty to receiving stolen property in Highland County.

Joseph Amburgey, 42, was charged via secret indictment by a Highland County grand jury on one count of receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, in June.

The indictment alleged that on or about Sept. 1, 2022 in Pike County, and as a continuing course of criminal conduct in Highland County, Amburgey and another suspect “did receive, retain or dispose of” a Kubota tractor valued between $7,500 and $150,000. It is alleged that Amburgey and the other suspect “knew or had reasonable cause to believe” the tractor “had been obtained through the commission of a theft offense.”

Amburgey pleaded guilty to the charge Sept. 6, according to court records. The case against the other suspect is still pending.

During a sentencing hearing Oct. 4, Highland County Common Pleas Court Rocky Coss ordered Amburgey to serve three years of community control. In addition, Amburgey was ordered to successfully complete a treatment program and to pay $3,200 in restitution.
