    Before we really get into things, a sincere thank-you goes out to all the readers of the sports pages of The Highland County Press. Also, thank you to all the athletes, coaches and athletic directors for your play on the court and all the help given to me through any given year.

    As closely played as the first half was for the host Whiteoak Lady Wildcats and Zane Trace Lady Pioneers with both teams looking for their first win of the season, the third quarter proved to be too much for the Lady ’Cats, as ZTHS opened the frame with a 14-0 run to eventually defeat Whiteoak, 52-34.

    The time to wrap up the 2018 calendar year of sports is nearing ever so close, as this upcoming Saturday will complete the calendar year of high school athletics, so be on the lookout for a Top 10 list of moments from the 2018 season next week.

    The Whiteoak Wildcats split their past two games, as they were defeated on Friday night by Peebles in a 62-39 road loss but came right back the next night to gain a road win by defeating the East Clinton Astros by a 55-44 score in non-conference action.

    The regular season continued for the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats on Monday as they battled tough and had a strong opponent in front of them in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference game to open the week.

    The Whiteoak Wildcats earned their fourth win of the season, and second win over a two-day span, on Saturday evening as they went on the road to gain a non-conference win over the Glenwood New Boston Tigers, 63-57.

    Following halftime, the Whiteoak Wildcats looked like a whole different team in the third quarter than they did in the first half. As head coach Blake Kibler said following the game, what his team was trying to do in the first half was to get into “the flow of things,” but once that third quarter arrived, it was a whole new ball game for the home Wildcats.
