2023 Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame ceremony set for Oct. 12
On Oct. 12, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC), along with sponsors Wright State University, Honda and PNC, will host the 14th annual Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The Civil Rights Hall of Fame seeks to acknowledge outstanding Ohioans who are recognized as pioneers in human and civil rights and who have advanced the goals of equality and inclusion.
The 2023 Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame honorees include:
• Rev. Dr. Lavaughn Venchael Booth (1919-2002)
• Sundance (Oberlin, Ohio) First Native-American Inductee
• Joseph Robinson Patterson (1918-1996)
• Veronica Dahlberg (Ashtabula Ohio)
• Charity Adams Earley (1918-2002)
• Penelope "Penny" Wells (Youngstown Ohio)
• Margaret "Peg" Rosenfield (1931-2022)
• Lt. Colonel, Harold H. Brown, Ph.D. (1924-2023).
The 2023 Ohio Civil Rights Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place Thursday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. in the Ohio Statehouse Atrium in Columbus. The program will consist of a formal ceremony that will honor these inductees.
Bishop Timothy Clarke will provide the keynote address. Performing will be singer Jessica Lorraine and the Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band.
The event is free, and all members of the public are invited to attend the induction ceremony. There will be a small reception held in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda immediately following the ceremony.
To maintain maximum capacity guidelines, RSVPs are required when attending this year's event. Please note that masks are optional. The ceremony will be photographed and video recorded.
