William G. Coldiron
William Gene “Bill” Coldiron, 81, of Hillsboro passed away Aug. 2, 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born Oct. 8, 1941 in Lynchburg, the son of William W. and Betty Wilkin Coldiron.
Mr. Coldiron was a graduate of Lynchburg High School, where he was active in the Future Farmers of America. Later, he served as president of the FFA Alumni Chapter. He was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ. Mr. Coldiron was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, with four years of regular service and twenty-six years in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves. He served as an aircraft mechanic in Ohio as well as North Carolina and Japan.
In 1991, he was activated for stateside duty in Operation Desert Storm. He also worked as a machinist and retired after a career at Senco in Mt. Carmel.
Mr. Coldiron is survived by one sister, Dianna (Ron) Coffey of Greenfield; several nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins; also, a special aunt, Rosemary Malott of Batavia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Karen Christ; and a niece, Rhonda Jo Mansfield Young.
A memorial service is scheduled at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10 at Hillsboro VFW Post 9094, located at 1000 W. Main St., with pastor Wade Coffey officiating and military rites performed by the Highland County Honor Guard. Interment will take place at the Harwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
