William 'Bill' Ferguson
William “Bill” Ferguson, 96, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023 at Greenfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born Jan. 27, 1927 in Portsmouth, the son of John B. and Elizabeth (Collinsworth) Ferguson.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was later discharged as a sergeant.
He retired from the U.S. Shoe Factory of Greenfield in 1989 after 46 and a half years of employment.
He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Sue (Richard) Harris of Reynoldsburg and Sandra Kay (David) Green of Chillicothe; one grandson, Jeremy (Jennifer) Harris of Lewis Center; two great-granddaughters, Claire and Evelyn Harris; two step-grandchildren, Ronald (Mitzi) Green of Mason and Tracey Alexander of Fishers, Ind.; three step-great-grandchildren, Emma Green, Lance Green and Kaitlin Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trixie Faye Ferguson, on May 24, 2016; three sisters, Eilleen Taylor, Alberta Hard and Alice Sprague; four brothers, John Ferguson Jr., Jack Ferguson, Bob Ferguson and Frank Ferguson; and both parents.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield, beginning with a veterans appreciation service then Rev. Dr. Jason Link to officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
