Wildcats winners in season opener

DODSONVILLE — The Whiteoak Wildcats began their 2011 baseball season with a 2-1 non-league win over the Paint Valley Bearcats, Monday.
Paint Valley scored in the first, as their leadoff hitter walked, stole second. The second Whiteoak answered in the fourth inning, scoring one run.
Luke Taggert walked, stole second, and moved to third on a throwing error by pitcher. Gage Carraher hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, scoring Taggert.
WHS scored the eventual winner in the fifth inning.
Kenny Brate walked, then stole second base. Brate scored on a single to right field by Mike Carraher.
Nathan Hauke went the distance on the mound, gaining the win. He pitched seven innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and five walks. He struck out five batters, with his catcher being Jesse Bradds.
