Wildcats win 5th straight; defeat Greyhounds

MANCHESTER — After trailing following the first half, the Whiteoak Wildcats rallied in the final two quarters to defeat the Manchester Greyhounds, 52-45, Tuesday night for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win.
The win is their fifth consecutive victory, as they move to 4-1 in the SHAC and 7-4 overall. Manchester falls to 1-4 in the SHAC and 4-7 overall.
In their span of five straight wins, the Wildcats have scored 308 points (61.6 points per game) while allowing just 208 points (43.6 ppg) in the same span.
For the Wildcats, the score was tied at 13 following the conclusion of the first quarter. In the second, they were outscored 18-13 by the host Greyhounds. Then came the final two quarters, where WHS outscored their opponent, 26-14.

In the third, WHS outlasted MHS, 14-8, and in the final eight minutes, the Wildcats doubled the scoring effort of the Greyhounds at 12-6.
Doc Seip led WHS with 20 points, scoring 14 points in the second half. Gage Carraher followed with 13 points, including two 3-pointers and a 3-of-4 night from the free-throw line.
Luke Taggert followed with 10 points, while Tyler Williams added three points. Justin Emery, Brent Davis and Blake Trueblood each scored two points in the win.
For the Greyhounds, they were led by Braxton Gaffin with 14 points, Austin Smith with 10 points and Sean Frost with eight. Smith made two 3-pointers against WHS.
From the free-throw line, WHS was 6-of-13, while Manchester was 2-of-2.
The Wildcats return home on Friday, Jan. 11 as they host the Eastern Brown Warriors.
