Wildcats fall in sectional semifinals
The Whiteoak Wildcats ended their 2014-15 season on Wednesday evening in the Division IV SE District Sectional semifinals at Northwest High School, falling to the Manchester Greyhounds, 45-29.
The game between the Southern Hills Athletic Conference foes left the Wildcats with an overall record of 1-20 on the season. The lone win by WHS this season came against the North Adams Green Devils on Feb. 6 by a 60-42 score.
After the first frame, the Wildcats trailed the Greyhounds, 11-6, and they followed that up with a 11-5 second frame for a halftime deficit of 22-11.
In the final two quarters of their season, the Wildcats were outscored 23-18.
"We couldn't get anything going offensively, we took bad shots, stood around and couldn't get in sync," WHS head coach Jeremy McGraw said. "We were 3-of-12 from the foul line as well.

"(Brandon) Ashbaugh hit a shot with time running out in the third quarter to cut it to five points, and we lost track of Sean Frost. He hit a three at the buzzer to end the third to go back up eight. This was a big momentum swinger for them. Our kids didn't respond very well in the fourth after that."
Leading the Wildcats in scoring was Brandon Ashbaugh with 13 points in the loss. He was followed by Kyle Marler with six points.
Others to add points for WHS were Jacob Burns with five, while Kyle Adams and Cody McClure each scored two points. Dillon Neal wrapped up the scoring with one point.
The Wildcats had three seniors play their final game in Adams, Zack Taggett and Neal.
"For our seniors, they will be missed," McGraw said. "They worked hard all year. They are good quality young men, and I wish them nothing but the best."
