Wildcats extinguish Dragons

     WEST UNION - The Whiteoak Wildcats gained their second win in consecutive days as they dominated the West Union Dragons for three quarters en route to a 69-45 Southern Hills League victory Friday night at West Union High School.
     Whiteoak continued their high scoring offensive attack from the previous game with a 20 point first quarter, and their defense came to play as well, holding the Dragons to six points in the opening eight minutes.
     The defensive pressure by WHS kept coming at the Dragons in the second quarter as they kept WU to seven points in the quarter, while the Wildcat offense scored 11 points for a 31-13 advantage at halftime.
     WHS had their second 20 point output in the third frame, along with their best defense effort in the game, as they held WHS to three points.
     With the game in hand, the Wildcats were outscored 29-18 in the fourth quarter.
     Whiteoak was led in scoring by Joe Michael with 22 points. Michael made nine field goals and was 4 of 9 from the free-throw line.
     Michael was followed by Ben Barnett who scored 13 points, including four field goals and a 5 of 6 performance at the foul line. Ethan Hawkins netted a total of 13 points, making five shots from the floor and finishing 2 of 3 from the free-throw line.
     Michael Carraher earned nine points, with one 3-pointer and three two-point baskets. Jerry Stuckey and Wes Stratton each scored four points and Ethan Eyre finished with two points.
     WHS made 24 field goals and had an 18 of 31 performance from the free-throw line.
     The Dragons were led by Brewer with 11 points, who made three 3-pointers. Armstrong ended with nine points, and Kramer scored with seven in the loss to WHS.
     WU was 4 of 8 from the free-throw line and made seven 3-pointers and 10 two point baskets.
