Wildcats drop weekend games to Bearcats, Warriors

Over the weekend, the Whiteoak Wildcats hosted the Eastern Brown Warriors and the Paint Valley Bearcats, dropping both games.

On Saturday against Paint Valley, the Wildcats of WHS lost 81-48 in non-conference play.

For WHS, they were led in scoring by freshman Chase Carraher with 11 points, while Brandon Ashbaugh followed with nine. Ashbaugh made one 3-pointer in the loss, coming in the third frame.

Kyle Marler and Jacob Burns each scored seven points for WHS, and Dillon Neal totaled four points. Scoring two points each were Zack Taggett, Trevor Martin, Kyle Adams, Trevor Yeager and Stephen Ross.

At the free-throw line, WHS was 9-of-11 with Marler finishing 5-of-6 and Carraher going 2-of-3.

For PV, Anthony McFadden scored 29 points for the game-high, and Mason McCloy totaled 24 points. The Bearcats went 18-of-21 at the line.

At halftime, WHS trailed 39-16. In the second half, WHS was outscored 42-32 with WHS scoring 16 points in each of the final two quarters. PV scored 23 points in the third and 19 points in the final eight minutes.

On Friday night, the Wildcats lost to the Eastern Brown Warriors, 47-25.

WHS was outscored 36-13 in the first half and 21-12 in the second half.

The Wildcats saw Carraher led the team in scoring with 12 points, as five WHS players reached the scoring column.

Also for WHS, Burns and McClure each scored four points. Marler finished with three points, and Adams totaled two points.

The Wildcats went 2-of-8 from the free-throw line, while EB was 7-of-16.

EB was led in scoring with Mickey Hundley with 13 points, and Marcus Day scored 10 points.

Also this past week, the Wildcats lost to the Blanchester Wildcats in non-conference play by a score of 66-47.

In that non-conference game, WHS scored 19 points in the first half, while BHS totaled 38 points in the first two quarters.

Each team scored 15 points in the third, and in the fourth, both teams scored 13 points.

Carraher led the WHS Wildcats with 15 points, while Ashbaugh and Burns totaled eight points.
