Wildcats battle on road; fall to Rockets

The Whiteoak Wildcats showed vast improvement on Friday night compared to their game earlier in the week, pushing the Fayetteville Rockets on the road, though coming up just short in the scoring column.

WHS lost to the host Rockets, 69-58.

In the game, the Wildcats trailed 16-10 at the end of the opening eight minutes, and in the following quarter, both teams opened up on offense with Fayetteville outscoring the visiting Wildcats, 21-20.

At halftime, the Wildcats trailed, 37-30.

 

[[In-content Ad]]In the second half, FHS scored 13 points in the third and 19 points in the fourth, while WHS had 18 points in the third and 10 points in the fourth.

Chase Carraher led the Wildcats with a game-high 20 points. Carraher was 10-of-11 from the free-throw line, along with two 3-pointers and two field goals.

Brandon Ashbaugh followed with 17 points, with seven two-point baskets. He was 3-of-5 from the free-throw line.

Also in double figures for the Wildcats was Jacob Burns with 10 points. Burns made two 3-pointers in the loss.

Cody McClure added four points for WHS, while Zack Taggett made three free throws for three points. With two points each were Kyle Marler and Kyle Adams.

Leading Fayetteville were Tanner Fowler with 17 points and Nic Ball with 15 points.
