Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lose to Paint Valley

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats continued their 2017-18 season Tuesday night, falling to the Paint Valley Lady Bearcats by a 79-19 score in non-conference play at PVHS.

Whiteoak (0-2) was held to just 10 points in the opening two quarters, trailing 51-10 at halftime after allowing 25 points in the first quarter to PVHS and 26 points in the second frame.

In the third quarter, WHS didn’t score any points, while the Lady Bearcats scored 20. In the fourth, Whiteoak added nine points, and the host Lady Bearcats scored eight.

WHS was led in scoring by sophomore Cylee Bratton with nine points (10 rebounds), including two two-point baskets and finishing 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. Senior Courtney Gross was next with four points, while senior Megan Botts followed with three points. Freshman Kara Ward tallied two points, and sophomore Jordan Griggs made one free throw.

WHS totaled five two-point field goals as a team and went 9-of-12 from the free-throw line, while committing 37 turnovers.

The Lady Bearcats were led by Lexi Woods with a double-double by scoring 34 points and collecting 11 rebounds. Also in double figures for PVHS were Kelsey Dunn with 14 points and Lea McFadden with 10.

In all, PVHS had 34 field goals, were 9-of-13 from the free-throw line and totaled 42 rebounds.

Next for the Whiteoak squad is an away Southern Hills Athletic Conference (SHAC) game at Peebles with a 6 p.m. start.
