Whiteoak boys cross-country 2nd at West Union Dragon Run

The Whiteoak Wildcats raced at the 2017 West Union Dragon Run at WUHS where they were runners-up in the boys race, while the race was won by the Eastern Brown Warriors.

WHS placed second in the boys race with 59 points, having a total time of 1:40:55, with an average time of 20:11.00. Eastern won with a score of 17 points, with a total team time of 1:32:12 and an average time of 18:26.40.

In third place was West Union (77), followed by North Adams (108), Notre Dame (144), Manchester (149) and Fayetteville (178).

Leading Whiteoak in the cross-country meet was junior Hunter Morgan at 18:50.00. Also in the Top 10 for the Wildcats was junior Atlee Carr at 19:17.00 in seventh place and junior Zach DeAtley in ninth place with a time of 19:17.00.

Logan Cummings, a junior, was 20th overall at 21:31.00, followed by teammate junior Cody Everhart at 21:37.00. Junior Jacob Campbell was 27th place for the Wildcats at 22:24.00, while junior Josh Graybeal was 38th place at 24:12.00. Also for WHS, junior Gavin Tebo had a time of 27:28.00, while fellow juniors Gabe Sheppard finished at 32:07.00 and Trace Thompson at 34:01.00.

Three teams competed in the girls race with Eastern Brown winning with a score of 27, followed by West Union (43) and North Adams (51).

Whiteoak had two runners in the race with junior Kara Ward in 18th place at 30:58.00 and junior Morgan Evans in 19th place at 31:55.00.

In the boys junior high race (3200 meters), the Fairfield Lions were first place with a score of 27 points. Leading FMS was Reese Teeters (eighth grade) in third place at 12:39.00, followed by Landry Hattan (seventh grade) in fourth place at 13:00.00 and Jon Bentley (eighth grade) in fifth at 13:02.00. Also in the Top 10 overall in the junior high race for FMS were Jacob Morgan (eighth grade) in seventh place at 13:17.00 and Koben Zink (eighth grade) at 13:24.00.
