Wardlow scores 24 in Lady 'Cat loss to Manchester

MANCHESTER — The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats had a career performance by freshman Emma Wardlow, but it wasn't enough for them to gain a win as they fell 65-45 Thursday at Manchester.
WHS trailed 17-0 after the first quarter but from there scored 45 points in the next three quarters as they had a 10-point second frame to trail 31-10 at the half.
In the third, visiting WHS (1-8) was outscored 19-16, and in the fourth, they outscored host Manchester 19-15.
The win moves Manchester to 6-5 overall.
As for Wardlow's game, she sank three 3-pointers and was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. In her 24-point effort, she tallied a double-double as the freshman had 13 rebounds. She also tallied four steals.

Morgan Campbell followed with six points (one 3-pointer) and four rebounds. Next in scoring was Brittany Luman with four points, four rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot.
Emily Stratton scored three points with 10 rebounds, two assists and a team-high five steals.
Sunnie Lehr tallied three points (one 3-pointer) while collecting six rebounds and one steal.
Also for WHS, Courtney Cummings had two points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot. Clarissa Johnson ended with two points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Rounding out the scoring was Amber Gorman with one point, 11 rebounds, one steal and one block.
WHS was 50 percent from the free-throw line at 12-of-24.
The Lady 'Cats will play again on Saturday, Jan. 5 as they travel to Alexander.
