Volleyball Recap: Whiteoak advances, Hillsboro sees season end

The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats advanced to the sectional finals of their Division IV SE District Sectional on Monday with a win over the the Manchester Lady Greyhounds.

WHS, who entered the postseason as a No. 10 seed, won in four sets over their Southern Hills Athletic Conference rival.

In the four-set match that WHS won 3-1, they began by losing the first set to the Lady Greyhounds by a 25-12 score. From there WHS won two very close sets at 25-23 and 25-20. The fourth and what turned out to be final set saw the Lady ‘Cats win by a 25-10 score.

WHS will now face No. 2 seeded Portsmouth Clay on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at Clay High School in the sectional finals.

The Hillsboro Lady Indians had their volleyball season come to a close on Monday, losing in three straight sets to the Fairfield Union Lady Falcons in a Division II SE District Sectional Semifinal match held at Fairfield Union High School.

The Lady Falcons entered the match as the No. 8 seed, while Hillsboro was seeded No. 9 in the district. HHS lost by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-14.

With the win, Fairfield Union will now face No. 1 seeded Logan Elm on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at LEHS.
