Tigers win home quad meet

Using speed, teamwork and strength in the field and on the track, it was the McClain boys who defended McClain Field as the winners of a quad meet Tuesday in Greenfield.
The MHS boys squad totaled 124 points for the win, while second was Hillsboro at 87, third was Whiteoak with 19 points and rounding out the scoring was Madison-Plains at 16 points.
"We did really well in the field events," MHS boys head coach Bob Bergstrom said. "The field events are one of our stronger areas as a team."
The Tigers swept the field events with Jordan Goble winning the long jump at 20-11.5, followed by teammates James Morris (19-10 and John Turner (19-7) on second and third.
In the shot put event, Philip Thompson threw for a first-place distance of 44-7.5 for the Tigers, with teammate Ryan Faulconer in second at 44-6 and Whiteoak's Leonard Becraft in third at 42-7.
Coleston Walters (MHS) was first in the high jump with a height of 5-8, followed by Alex Hollar (MHS) at 5-6 and Becraft in third at 5-6. Turner also had a height of 5-6.
Tommy Free won the pole vault at 10-6, with Paul Burton of HHS in second place at 10-0. Brandon Elmore was third for the Indians at 8-6.
The Tigers continued their field event success with Chandler Wagner winning the discus toss with a throw of 122-6, with Becraft in second at 121-7. In third was Thompson at 120-1.

On the track, the Tigers won seven of 12 events.
Winning those seven events for the Tigers were Evan Mustard in the 110-meter hurdles (17.20), Mikel Pritchard in the 400m dash at 53.37. Also in first for MHS were Jordan Goble in the 200m dash at 24.14, Seth Willman in the 100m dash at 11.55 and Thomas Schrader in the 300m hurdles at 46.49.
"Evan (Mustard) did very well in the high hurdles, and Seth's times in the 100 are great this early in the year," Bergstrom said. "He's had very good times in the cold and in the wind. Seth can be very good.
"Our kids have been working very hard, and our sprinters and field events are carrying us. Our distance guys are young, but they are working hard and getting better."
The Tigers also won two relay events with a time of 1:40.36 in the 4x200m relay and the 4x100m relay at 46.24.
For the Hillsboro Indians, Jarrod Hart won two individual events, as he won the 1600m run at 4:49.58 and the 800m run at 2:04.71. Nathan Boone also won for the Indians in the 3200m run with a time of 11:07.86.
The Tribe also won two relay events in the boys events with a 4x800m relay time of 9:22.83 and the 4x400m relay at 3:44.37.
Other times in the boys meet included (Top 3 times) in the 1600m with Joe Beery (HHS) at 5:10.04 and DeAndre Steward at 5:15.52.
Conner Ernst (HHS) was second in the 800m run at 2:22.24, and in third was Middleton at 2:23.83.
Becraft was second in the 110m hurdles at 18.61, and in third was Schrader at 18.84. Gabriel Tamborski (HHS) was third in the 400m dash at 57.17, and Willman was third in the 200m dash at 25.17.
In the 100m dash, Turner was second at 11.61, and in third was Hollar at 11.83. Conlon (HHS) was second in the 300m hurdles at 47.40, and in third was Feck at 49.43. Beery was third in the 3200m run at 11:18.68, and Steward was third at 11:59.68.
