Sosby, Evans and Thornburgh selected All-Ohio softball
Three softball players from Highland County have been selected to the 2015 All-Ohio team by coaches in the state, including two players from Division IV and one from Division II.
In Division IV, there were two first-team selections in Whiteoak senior pitcher Kiley Sosby and Fairfield senior infielder Kaitlin Evans.
Division II saw junior outfielder Kerstin Thornburgh of Hillsboro selected to the second-team.
All three players were also selected to their respective league/conference and the SE District postseason teams for their play in '15.
Sosby had a career season in 2015 with seven no-hitters (four being perfect games), along with an ERA of 0.30 in 161.1 innings pitched. She allowed a total of seven earned runs all season (26 games) with a final record of 23-3.
The Whiteoak senior also struck out 355 batters this past season and walked just two. In allowing no home runs and hitting just one batter, the WHS senior held her opponents to a .086 average.
With Sosby as the leading player for WHS, the Lady 'Cats were the Division II Southern Hills Athletic Conference champions and won their first district championship since the 2004 season, as WHS finished the '15 season at 23-3 overall.

The All-Ohio selection was the third time she received the honor. Sosby will play collegiate softball for Bowling Green State University, a Division I school in the Mid-American Conference.
For Evans, in 22 games played this season, she totaled 45 hits, including eight hits combined in the district and regional round of the postseason (three games).
In 19 games (all regular season, and the sectional final game), Evans batted .529 with 37 hits, 31 RBIs, along with having a .714 slugging percentage and a .590 on-base percentage in that same span of games.
Evans (who was on an 18-4 district champion Lady Lions team) also had 17 stolen bases and batted .575 with runners in scoring position in the first 19 games for FHS in '15.
During her senior year, Evans also had one home run.
As for Thornburgh, the Hillsboro junior finished with two hits, one being a double, in the sectional final game this postseason against Sheridan.
In a sectional semifinal game for HHS on May 13 vs. Circleville, the junior had a two-RBI single and scored a run.
Against McClain on April 23, she led Hillsboro with a 3-for-4 day against their Highland County rival, including a triple and scoring three runs.
On April 14 vs. Miami Trace, Thornburgh was a perfect 3-for-3, with two of those hits being doubles, and on April 1, the junior finished 3-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run. (Final season stats of Thornburgh were not available.)
