Regional track and field tournaments wrap up

     The finals of all regional track and field tournaments took place Saturday, with runners from Highland County in the events.
      In the Division II, HHS senior Holly Fouch was seventh in the 100-meter dash and sixth in the 200m dash. In the 100m final Saturday, in Byesville, Fouch had a time of 13.44. In the 200m event her final time was 26.81.
     In the boys section, MHS sophomore Luis Rivas was sixth in the 400m event with a final time of 51.64.
     In Division III Lynchburg-Clay senior Brad Keltner was 12th in the shot put event with a distance of 43-11.75.
     To get to most final events, runners had to take part in prelim events on Thursday.
     Fouch was eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 13.33 in the prelim to qualify for the regional final. In the 200m dash Fouch qualified for the final with a time of 26.94 for sixth.
     McClain freshman Felicity Peabody was 14th in the 400m dash with a prelim time of 1:03.80. Both Fouch and Peabody ran their events in the second heat.
     In the 100m hurdles Hillsboro sophomore Leah Pence was ninth, just missing the final cut, with a time of 16.59 as she ran in heat one.
     MHS sophomore Taylor Faulconer was 11th in the 300m hurdles at 49.61, as she ran in heat two of the prelim event.
     The MHS 4x200 relay team of Peabody, senior Sarah Upp, and sophomores Kaitlin and Taylor Faulconer finished 14th at 1:55.28 in heat one of the prelim event.
     In the boys part of the Division II regional in Byesville, Rivas was seventh in the 400m dash, qualifying for the finals with a time of 52.03.
    Hillsboro boys track members took part in the Division I Regional Track Meet on Wednesday.
    In the 4x800-meter relay, the team of Jarrod Hart, Collin Rothwell, Seth Darbyshire and Tyler Bick finished in 16th place with a time of 8:53.42.
    HHS junior Mason Hunick finished 13th in the 100m dash with a time of 11.88 in the prelims.
    The 4x100m relay team of seniors Anthony Parker and Emanuel Turner, along with Hunick and sophomore Christian Wildey, finished in 12th at a time of 45.17.
    In the Division III Regional Meet at Fairfield Union High School, the Whiteoak boys 4x200 team of juniors Steven Oney, Mark Crowe, and sophomore Jon Fox, along with freshman Cory Garrison, were 14th with a final time of 1:39.22.
    The 200m dash race had Whiteoak's Garrison in 13th place with a time of 24.04.    
    In the long jump event, Matt Forsythe (WHS), a junior, had a distance of 17-07.00 for 14th place.
